Be Brave and Shave

Press Release

By Gayle Daetz

Somerset Regional Council have signed up to support the Leukaemia Foundation with “Be Brave and Shave. You can have your hair coloured or shaved, beards coloured or shaved, have a funky hair day, or even have your legs waxed, or just a dress down day, anything that your heart desires.

Worlds greatest shave is from 12th to 14th March with Somerset Regional Council having 2 days 12th and 13th of March for Fundraising. Donation Tins and receipt books can be found at the Esk Library and Council Building, Toogoolawah Library, Kilcoy Council Building and Lowood Library.
Hair Colouring available from 9th to 13th March 10.00am to 4.00pm at Fernvale Futures Complex.

To all volunteers of the Somerset Region and other interested parties.

This space this week is taken up with 2 brave men (er, foolish men)
Gary the volunteer Co-ordinator and Neil Walker from Fernvale volunteered to have their legs waxed at the Fernvale Futures Complex on the 12th March at 11.00 am. Ross Tutin (Tourism Officer) was invited to join them but declined, instead pledging $100.00 to watch these fellows suffer. Well done Ross your support is greatly appreciated.

These 2 gentlemen talked their way into the situation and then tried to chicken out, but after some thought decided that Leukaemia patients go through a lot more pain and suffering with their treatments than they would getting a few hairs waxed from their legs.

So come on down to Fernvale and watch the expression on their faces as we slowly pull the wax off their legs. Don’t forget to bring your cameras or video cameras.
Thanks for your support
