Free Money Course at Fernvale Futures

A free money course is being held at Fernvale Futures Complex commencing on August 4th at 7.15pm. The course is being held by cap moneyand is held on Tuesdays for 3 weeks. Somerset Council announces 45 New Home Sites for Fernvale

A 45 lot residential development, adjacent to the Fernvale Futures Complex and Rail Trail, has been conditionally approved by Somerset Council.  The site will feature pedestrian linkage to the new Fernvale Shopping Centre.  The developer will help contribute towards recreation facilities in the area including the new $4 million Fernvale Indoor Sports Centre, jointly funded by both Council and the Federal Government.

Breast Cancer Walkathon

Sports Centre for Fernvale

It was announced on Friday 24th April that Fernvale will have a 5 million dollar sports complex to be built near the Fernvale Community Hall. The Federal Government is providing $2.1 million towards the project through the Community Infrastructure Program.

The Centre will cater for a range of sporting activities including Basketball, Netball, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Indoor Soccer, Indoor Bowls and Martial Arts.

11 New Jobs for Fernvale with Concrete Batching Plant

Somerset Council has approved a concrete batching plant to be built north of Fernvale which is set to employ 11 people. Mayor Graeme Lehmann has welcomed the development and praised the job potential. He also states that Queensland Government agencies had significant input into the development approval including the environmental requirements.

The plant will have the capacity to produce between 50,000 to 75,000 cubic metres of concrete annually.

Main Roads work on Brisbane Valley Highway

The Department of Main Roads and RoadTek are continuing the upgrade of Brisbane Valley Highway.

Work will start on Wednesday 14th April and finist in late June 2009, weather permitting. Generally, roadworks will happen between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday with some possible weekend work. The work will be carried out 1 lane at a time, which means 1 lane will remain open at all times. Traffic controllers will be in place to minimise traffic delays and keep traffic moving through the worksite. Due to the nature of the work access to some properties may be affected. Festival for Fernvale

An environmental & multicultural festival is being planned for Fernvale, to be held in March, 2010. It will be held on a Saturday, & will include a parade, market stalls, entertainment, and demonstrations by environmental, multicultural & community groups & organisations. Workshops & art workshops, with public participation, will be conducted leading up to the event.

Expressions of interest from interested parties are now being sought, and forms are available from the Fernvale Futures Complex, 1483 Brisbane Valley Highway. We are looking for people who wish to:

  • Entertain on the day
  • Conduct a workshop
  • Participate in a workshop
  • Hold a demonstation
  • Have a market stall
  • Participate in the parade
  • Sponsor the event
  • Help organise the event

  • Who have any suggestions for the festival.

Women’s Health and Beauty Expo

Ladies come and nourish yourself at the Women’s Health and Beauty Expo on Saturday 4th April from 2.00pm till 7.00pm at Fernvale Futures Complex, 1483 Brisbane Valley Highway, Fernvale.

Displays and Exhibitors include Dancing Tiger Belly Dance Studio, Hairstylists, Fresh Beauty Bar Natural Cosmetics, Avon, Mt England Estate Winery, Ahimsa Yoga and others.

Admission for the Expo is $15.00per person(includes tea, coffee and finger food) A discount is available for pre-booked and pre-paid groups. All profits from admission and raffles conducted on the day will be donated to Angel Flight.
